Full Job Description
Manages a team of developers involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of database systems. Determines user requirements, leads database design, plans projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress. Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness. May coordinate with other project managers to integrate project with other database systems. Position is a first-level manager and has direct responsibility for people management. In addition to project deployment, responsibilities include career development, performance management, and pay determination and communication.
Manage a team of professionals to support database systems.
Oversee day-to-day activities of database team.
Provide guidance to database team on database structures and features.
Create standard procedures to enhance scalability and performance of existing database architecture.
Troubleshoot complex database issues in accurate and timely manner.
Maintain database disaster recovery procedures to ensure continuous availability and speedy recovery.
Ensure databases are deployed according to GBS standards and business requirements.
Prepare reports on database scalability and capacity planning as needed.
Identify and resolve database issues related to performance and capacity.
Develop best practices for performance and operational efficiency.
Ensure database management and maintenance tasks are performed effectively.
Conduct training programs for staff on database application eco systems and ensure smooth onboarding and team development.
Perform regular audits to ensure data integrity and quality.
Provide regular updates to management on database project status.
Act as point of contact to divisions.
Triage and quantify incoming tickets to ensure appropriate routing of work.
Ensure ticket SLA expectations are met.
Stay updated with new database technologies and analyze such technologies to bring into scope of existing infrastructure.
Able to switch between OLTP and OLAP environments
Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or related experience of 5+ years as DBA
Experience building and utilizing various High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
The applicant will need to have a deep understanding of integrated security and be able to participate in troubleshooting activities.
The ability to discuss database related topics with both technical & business audiences.
Troubleshoot, investigate, offer and execute resolution to database issues.
Monitor and report on database storage utilization.
Experience with data warehousing, data access accountability.
Experience writing T-SQL and the ability to understand what others have developed.
Monitor, tune and manage scheduled tasks, backup jobs, recover processes, alerts, and database storage needs in line with firm change control procedures.
Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshoot and correct problems at the database and application performance level.
Work well in a team environment within the database administration team as well as with other Technical Service Group teams and other departments within the Wolters Kluwer.
Provide regular reports on performance and stability of database environment, identifying coming needs proactively to ensure continued reliable service.
Work with other teams and departments architecting database backend to support new solutions as required for project and operational tasks.
Document, develop, test and implement updates to database systems.

Work outside of regular business hours as required for project or operational work.
3+ years of supervisory/managerial experience.
Experienced Database professional with over 8+ years of experience in Enterprise Database Administration, System Analysis, design, support of database systems.
Ability to manage high availability solutions.
Experienced in building cloud servers and configuring health check monitoring using PowerShell integration using cloud schedulers through portals.
Automation using PowerShell scripts.
Extensive experience with all aspects of setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning and optimization, capacity management, monitoring, load testing, and security, including, encryption, and HADR options, such as Always On availability groups, mirroring, log shipping, VM replication, as well as robust backup and restore plans using SQL Server native tools and other third-party solutions.
Experienced in Upgrade/Migration of database platforms of On-Prem to cloud solutions.
Self-motivated, with the proven ability to work independently.
Take ownership of and proactively seek to improve on existing systems.
Develop automation for both repetitive or unique and complex tasks to reduce overhead and increase reliability.
Have developed several systems to monitor capacity, audit security, capture events to a database, etc., using a variety of database tools.
Experience in Installation, configuration and upgrades of Servers.
Monitor, optimize and report on system performance.
Experience with Failover clustering and SAN replication.
Experience with transactional replication.
Experience with Cognos/Analysis Services, Integration Services/Muelsoft/Informatica, or PowerBI/Reporting Services a plus.
Experience developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans.
Experience with code migration of all objects following established change control procedures.
Solid Database Administration.
Building cloud model servers end to end a plus.
On-premises to Cloud DB migrations.
Automation of regular tasks using PowerShell.
Performance Tuning & Capacity Monitoring.
Data Security, Backup & Recovery using native and third-party tools.
High Availability Groups & Replication.
SQL Server Stand Alone/Windows Cluster Installation.
Multiple platform experience a plus: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB CosmoDB
Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to getting things done right.
Experience in Performance Tuning and Index Design/Maintenance.
Expert level understanding design and writing of PowerShell scripts within SQL Server and WMI a plus
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
