EHS specialist, Montreal
What will you do?
We are looking for a motivated individual with a broad range of knowledge in environment, health and safety topics to support all aspects of Siemens Environment Health & Safety (EHS) program. The successful candidate would help our Mobility business to support the execution of EHS initiatives and to meet the customer requirements while ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, occupational health and safety, workers' compensation legislation across Canada including Siemens requirements.
The position is composed of 2 main areas of responsibilities: support from an EHS rolling stock commissioning activities, mainly in Montreal but also in Calgary, and support EHS governance activities.
Support rolling stock commissioning activities:
- Assist Project Managers on rolling stock commissioning projects and serve as the leading point of authority and/or resource for EHS area of expertise.
- Assist project managers in incident investigations and monitor corrective actions for effective implementation.
- Support and accompany the teams to facilitate the implementation of the management system and EHS programs.
- Develop specialized project safety plans, policies, job safety analysis, safe work practices, conduct hazards / risk assessments, incident investigation as required.
- Support creation and provide leadership to Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Perform training calibration exercised with customers to ensure Siemens employees have the necessary EHS training
- Coordinate EHS training, such as work at height
- Provide support and ensure all employees and contractors comply with established EHS policies and programs.
- Perform EHS observations/audits at the various customer/project sites, attend project meetings, audits and incident management as required.
- Monitor, track and report on EHS program and customer KPIs implement initiatives to address trends.
- Develop, monitor, and support all aspects of the EHS program to ensure compliance with applicable provincial and other regulatory requirements.
Support EHS governance activities in Siemens Mobility Canada activities:
- Assign EHS elearning training package and assist managers in completing the EHS onboarding for new employees based on the requirement of their position, update the database and liaise with business units.
- Monitor legislative changes and update EHS program as required to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Review and update the list of legal requirements. Perform gap assessment for any new\change to regulatory requirements.
- Support various aspects of new initiatives rolled out within Siemens EHS to meet company objectives.
- Champion the implementation and maintenance of Health, Safety, Environment programs to meet standard, as well as mandated customer / project requirements.
- Support audits
- Support EHS governance reporting to Siemens Canada, identify gaps and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure reporting requirements are complied with (CNESST, WSIB, ...)
- Liaise with Canada EHS Team and provide support on ongoing company initiatives.
What will you need to succeed?
- Degree or diploma in Environmental Health Safety program or industry recognized program with EH-related certification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Occupational, Health and Safety role in area of: railway, construction, transportation, and/or industrial sector, or similar
- Knowledge of Quebec and\or Ontario EHS regulations
- Coordination skills, well organized
- Agile
- Strong team working
- Demonstrated knowledge of EHS Management Systems including ISO 45001, 14001.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 (quality) is an advantage.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate options, solutions, and exercise judgment in making sound decisions.
- Expertise in the area of incident investigations, root cause analysis, workplace inspections, hazard analysis, risk assessment, safe work practice or job safety analysis development, employee relations.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and other software tools.
- Valid driver's license mandatory.
- English speaking and writing \ French as well (Preferable)
- Travel to project sites, mainly in Montreal but possibilities to travel across Canada, based on the projects.
- Ability to learn and work in high pace environment
