Your Role and Responsibilities
The Linux Technology Center (LTC) is responsible for ensuring Linux on Power (LoP) is a fully functioning and supported OS on the PowerPC platform. The LTC team in India has been in existence for around 20 years. Through this time, the team has developed deep expertise in relevant technologies and owns multiple missions. The team works on many areas of LoP including kernel and userspace development, Functional Verification and support.
As a manager in the LoP team, you will be responsible for managing a team of test engineers working on verification, validation and certification of the Linux Operating System on the PowerPC platform. The team works on a complex technology stack including firmware, kernel and userspace tools and packages.
You will be working closely with other teams within and outside the LTC to ensure that all the pieces worked on by your team are tested and delivered with high quality, no defect leakage and on time. The team is also responsible for automation and in this area, you will work with the Linux open source community to integrate the automation efforts with the larger test frameworks available in the community.
Your responsibilities will include people, project and program management for the area of the FVT that your team is responsible for. You will also be working with program managers for various Linux distributions within the LTC.
The role primarily consists of three responsibilities.
As a people manager, you will be responsible for managing people. This will include hiring, performance assessments and feedback, salary and career planning.
As a functional manager, you will have responsibilities to assign, prioritise and deliver features and defects in the area(s) that you team works.
As a program manager, you will interact with local and WW teams to ensure your team has a clear view of the roadmap, work on fall plan and interlock with other offering management and other stake holders for requirements and status updates.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
12 years of design/development and test of complex systems
People management experience of 3 years or more
Strong product development exp.
Proficiency in at least one of the following - C, C++, Python
Experience in using project mgmt. tools such as Zenhub, Jira, etc.
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Exposure to Open Source Development
Exposure in OS Internals
Exposure to project mgmt. tools such as Zenhub, Jira, etc.
