Job Title – Principal Database Administrator (Snowflake Admin)
The Purpose of This Role
Data Operations COE is part of Fidelity Data Architecture & Engineering Division that primarily provides DBA support for multiple RDBMS like Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Netezza & RDS on AWS. In addition, this team is also responsible for Data Lake Operations on Cloud that supports Nifi (ELT Tool), Collibra, Alation Enterprise Tools & Platform Engineering (Middleware), Data masking (TDM) & Enterprise Snowflake Admin Support
Work closely with Fidelity Business Units in onboarding their data into Enterprise Datawarehouse Snowflake DB platform (SaaS) & implement the security/audit requirements/standards by partnering with Enterprise Cloud Computing, Cyber Security & manage it
The Value You Deliver
Core duties include:
Define best practices on Snowflake & implement them by closely working with Data Architects & Product Teams
Maintain deep understanding of complex technologies and help business units to leverage Enterprise Snowflake as part of their data analytics strategy
Work with product teams, help them in designing & onboarding their warehouse data to Enterprise Datawarehouse Snowflake platform
Build, design, architect and implement high-volume, high-scale data analytics and machine learning Snowflake solutions in the cloud.
Provide technology leadership in driving large complex Snowflake implementations
Provide guidance on how to resolve customer-specific technical challenges & work with the snowflake vendor on resolving bugs or any new requirements
Tune Snowflake for better performance and optimize the utilization of both storage & processing thereby leading to cost efficiency
Design the monitoring requirements, automate them using python programming & shell scripting
Understand Data Classification (PII) defined by Information Security Office (ISO) & implement auditing measures to ensure strict controls on data access
Provide snowflake trainings on new features & how they can be leveraged by the product teams
Being a Technical SME for Snowflake platform
The Skills that are Key to this role
Technical / Behavioral
9 + years of IT experience
5 + years of experience as Core DBA on Oracle, MS SQL Server or any other RDBMS
3 + years of experience on managing MPP systems like Netezza, Teradata or Greenplum
3 + years of experience on supporting any databases on public cloud (AWS, Azure)
3 + years of experience on SQL & PL/SQL Programming
Database & SQL Tuning experience
Designing & implementing High Availability, Disaster Recovery solutions
Working experience on supporting a 24/7 production DB environments
Problem solving and good analytical skills
Exhibit Thought leadership, be a Team Player, good communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work in tight deadlines under pressure
Flexible and adaptable to changing business/technology requirements
The Skills those are good to have for this role
Prior experience in migrating Data to Public Cloud (AWS/Azure)
Knowledge on Datawarehouse & Data Modelling concepts
Snowflake/AWS certifications will be an added plus
Python Programming skills
Tableau or PowerBI reporting tools for building dashboards

The Expertise we’re looking for
Bachelors or Master’s in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience
7 to 10 years of Database Administration (IT) experience
3 + years of experience on managing one of the MPP systems like Netezza, Teradata or Greenplum
2 + years of managing Snowflake Data Warehouse production platform
Managing databases on public Cloud (AWS/Azure)
AWS/Snowflake/DB certifications
