Job Description
As Cloud Optimisation Specialist you will be a facilitator to improve cost analysis, tracking and reporting cost incurred by teams, business units and business services by pioneering cutting edge Cloud technologies and use this data to educate and advise on investment or cost reduction recommendations, as well as showcase and recharge to relevant cost centres. This will be achieved through a build, integrate, testing and support activities, including but not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Support partners in identifying and facilitate opportunities to optimise costs and reduce costs and plans to realise savings
- Provide summaries and detailed usage statistics for resources across public clouds, offering meaningful intelligence to right-size and scale services efficiently
- Build and maintain cloud usage visibility to proactively optimise workloads
- Configure and manage the cloud management platform, being the technical lead for the service
- Provide early intervention, management and advice to consumers of the services
- Work closely with financial and billing teams on budget, forecast and expense reports relating to hosting
- Oversee the cloud billing dashboard and handle the Compute Savings Plan purchases
- Create operational metrics to demonstrate costs and usage and assist with tracking with the vital partners
- Lead regular cadence calls providing expert advice and consulting on cloud financial management activities
- Create and maintain internal and user-facing documentation on FinOps and cost optimisation processes and customer environments
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years consistent track record within the Cloud FinOps space with very strong experience in cloud expense management
- Experience with Apptio Cloudability
- Strong ability to analyse and interpret data and provide insights
- Exposure to public cloud billing and services, including AWS (required with at least one Certification) plus Google Cloud and/or Azure.
- FinOps or TBM certification is highly desirable
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and experience presenting formally or informally
- Attention to detail and ability to co-ordinate cross-organisation problem solving
- Ability to prioritise and handle your own workload
- Working in a sophisticated, multi-geography, engineering services environment
- Experience working in an Agile team, understanding of project management methods, fields and project lifecycles
