Hybrid Business Design – Senior Consultant

Deloitte Consulting’s product innovation team is responsible for future-proofing new businesses that bring together Deloitte’s service capabilities with product-based solutions. The Hybrid Business Design (HBD) team directly influences Consulting's biggest investments in hybrid businesses from incubate and launch through scale execution. This team sits within New Business Innovation (NBI), a group within Consulting which is responsible for incubating and scaling new technology-enabled breakthrough ideas to address our clients' most pressing business challenges. The HBD team is comprised of several subgroups, called Centers of Excellence (CoEs), including:

• Business Architecture
• Market Strategy
• Pricing, Monetization, & Business Case Strategy
• Ecosystem, Strategy, & Curation

The primary role of an incoming Senior Consultant will be to provide support and insights to the CoEs to differentiate and launch new businesses for HBD. This position will work directly with the Business Architects and CoE leads across the selected new businesses to deliver high quality outputs, which directly impact the development and scale of new, high growth Deloitte offerings.

A successful candidate will exhibit both an execution-focused and strategic mindset. The candidate will be expected to maintain expertise in current market analyses trends and product development methods, including: market fit analysis, market sizing, competitive scanning, pricing validation, partnering analyses, voice of the customer insights, and interview analysis. Additionally, the candidate should be able to think beyond data collected to distill and present meaningful insights as to be translated into action-oriented recommendations for senior executive leadership within Deloitte.

Specific essential functions of this role include:

• Individual contributor who will support and execute day-to-day development of client research engagements, including managing timelines, identifying risks, and supporting final deliverables throughout with limited input from executive sponsors
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at varying levels to deeply understand the market size, market demand, key competitive sets, pricing strategies, and partnering opportunities for high-growth, hybrid business cases and investment decisions
• Identify and understand competitive offerings and potential ecosystem partnerships, including key capabilities, for the Deloitte hybrid offering in question
• Perform market-sizing estimation and detailed competitive and ecosystem analyses to validate or evolve client stakeholders’ point of view
• Analyze key industry trends to develop a strategic point of view on where a market is in the context of specific projects
• Maintain an informed point of view on emerging technologies and related services for hybrid offering opportunities
• Maintain pulse on prevailing/winning internal and external pricing approaches, monetization trends, and offering types / benchmarks
• Support development of innovative offering, monetization, and pricing strategies for portfolio of Deloitte Hybrid Businesses and cloud-based, software solutions and technology assets
• Drive or support additional strategic initiatives to develop, grow, and mature the New Business Innovation group and Consulting's overall hybrid offering business model
• Develop broad business incubation skills through support of HBD’s various Centers of Excellence: Market Strategy, Business Architecture, Pricing, Monetization, & Business Case Strategy, and Ecosystem, Strategy, & Curation
• Experience working with US-based teams

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics or a related field, MBA preferred
• 3+ years of software assets strategy and/or business model evaluation experience, including quantitative and qualitative experience assessing software assets or investments
• Proven ability to successfully partner with internal senior stakeholders from various parts of the organization, with varying degrees of technical aptitude, and drive successful outcomes cross-functionally
• Intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial mindset
• Experience in developing business cases for technology-based solutions, including doing some or all of the following analyses: market sizing, competitor landscape, ecosystem assessments, voice of the customer, pricing, cross-offering portfolio opportunities, and technical build recommendations

Preferred:

• Experience with early-stage products and new product development from ideation specification through market launch and revenue generation
• Seasoned understanding of technology-based businesses, including business models, software development, technical components of the stack, partnering strategies and modern software development processes
• Strong analytical skillset combined with the ability to synthesize findings into leadership-level business insights and recommendations
• Ability to develop high-quality deliverables with limited input from executive sponsors
• Ability to juggle many competing priorities/ deadlines
• Understanding of available research tools and methods
• Resourcefulness and ability to overcome challenges and view business problems from multiple perspectives
• Understanding of Deloitte Consulting’s organization, including matrixed nature and Offering Portfolios
