Full Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Lead a team to establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvement
Follow global packaging processes and conduct packaging technology system to regional packaging groups. Report and upload data/information to enterprise packaging system.
Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues related to receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery
Lead Packaging Improvement Projects and Changes
Ensure team performs activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion
Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
Develop, communicate, and maintain supplier packaging requirements
Audit conformance to packaging specification
Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing
Customers: Typical internal customers include process partners including operations, dealers, and customers. The position's primary customers are internal. The position often confronts complex issues or problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, Part Quality, Vendor Certification, Other Measure, Long term viability of solutions and compliance matters.
BACKGROUND /EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. (Does not include Engineering Technology Degrees)
Minimum 5 years working as a Packaging Engineer in industrial applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles
Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
Knowledge of material handling equipment
Basic design skills utilizing 3D modeling software
Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background
Additional packaging design experience in automotive or similar industry
Creo or Solid Works Packaging Modeling Experience
